Shri Shivajee Singh, a distinguished career officer, began his journey with the 'Border SecurityForce' (BSF) as a Direct Entry Officer in 1969, achieving the top rank among officers selected nation wide for Central Police Organizations (CPOs).
During his tenure in the BSF, he held various roles on the Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladeshborders. Notably, he actively participated in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and lednumerous counterinsurgency and counter-terrorism operations in Northeastern States, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. As IG (Ops) in BSF, he was responsible for analyzing threat perception, mobilization, deployment, and overseeing operations on India's borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. He also managed Internal Security Duties, including Amarnath Yatra, Disaster Management, Election duties, and Anti-Naxal operations.
During his service career, he served in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as Senior Superintendent of Police/DIG (Investigation). Here, he supervised and conducted a number of sensitive investigations into human rights violations, including cases involving prison conditions, deaths in jails, conditions in children's homes, and child labor issues.
In his final position at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of the Government of India, he played a pivotal role in establishing, equipping, training, and operationalizing the 'National Disaster Response Force' (NDRF). He provided specialized guidance to State Authorities on disaster management and response and offered consultancy for the formation of State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF). He also conducted numerous mock exercises on disaster management at various levels, including those involving India's Nuclear Power Plants and other industries.
Throughout his illustrious career, Shri Shivajee Singh has been honored with several awards, including the 'Police Medal for Meritorious Service', 'President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services and India's highest Police Gallantry Medal (President's Police and Fire Service Medal for Gallantry) for his exceptional courage and outstanding operational performance during the Indo-Pak War of 1971 (Bangladesh Liberation War). He has also received several DG's Commendation Rolls, also DG's Insignia for Gallantry, along with letters of appreciation from various Heads of State Governments, NHRC, and NDMA for his exceptional professional service.
Shri Shivajee Singh holds a B.Sc. with distinction in Mathematics and M.Sc. (Prev) from the University of Bihar, Muzaffarpur. He has contributed significantly to articles on security, human rights, and disaster management.
