Learning is an evolutionary gift that enables humans to adapt, innovate, and evolve further. The uniqueness of human culture as commutative assertions is also the consequence of the ever-learning state of the human brain. Added to the inbuilt learning capacities of the human brain is the social behaviour of humans to share their learnings. This sharing of learnings among humans becomes teaching when the sharing of acquired information and wisdom is a purposeful and deliberately planned effort. Teaching ensures the preservation and transfer of knowledge and also ensures motivation to create new information to add to the existing storehouse of knowledge and wisdom. As social systems got advanced, learning and teaching became organised, first as societal subsystems—Gurukuls, Mathas, Vihars, Schools, Colleges, and Universities—and then gradually metamorphosed into an essential component of governance.
